July Boxycharm Try-On

I know this is coming a little late for July, but I was on vacation and didn’t get to open my box of Boxycharm goodies until I got home!

How Boxycharm Works:

Boxycharm is $21 per month. This price includes all the products as well as shipping charges. Inside your box you get 4 or 5 full size products and a paper describing what each product it and how much it would usually cost. All boxes are worth AT LEAST $100. Mine was definitely over that this month.

My Box this Month:

Farmacy Bright On Vitamin C Mask: I still haven’t tried this product out…I know I keep meaning to! I’ve just been taking my makeup off and going right to bed without using a face mask, but hopefully tonight I will finally try this out! Until then, I can’t give you a review except to say that this product is usually expensive!

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Cream: This is the perfect eyebrow product to travel with! Unfortunately, I just got back from my vacation. If you really like to fill in your brows and do it quickly, this is a great product. I’m not sure it’s going to replace my current eyebrow products, but it’s something I’ll keep for the future.

Note Luminous Silk Compact Blusher: I LOVE the shade that came this month – I actually don’t have any other blush like it! It’s a beautiful peach shade and it is pretty pigmented so be careful about that. Awesome product!

Crown Fuego Eyeshadow Palette: We’ve gotten lots of Crown products in past boxes, but I think this is my favorite of their products yet! The colors in this palette are beautiful and the pans are huge! Loving this so far!

Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara: This was my least favorite product in the box. It just didn’t put enough product on my eyelashes and I like a LOT of mascara! However, I did really like it for my lower lashes so I’ll be using it for that!

That’s it for the box this month! Did you love any of the products? Make sure you check out my video trying them on!

April Boxycharm Try-On

I LOVE the Boxycharm box this month – I wasn’t disappointed by a single product!

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner Face Mask: This tiny little bottle costs $47 usually! Quite a deal considering I only paid $21 for this whole box. I have yet to try this out, but I’m planning to tonight. It’s just so expensive I feel like I should save it!

Tarte Tarteist PRO Glow Liquid: I’ve never actually owned a liquid highlighter before so I was excited to try this out! While it definitely isn’t a blinding highlight, it does have a nice glow and can be built up or added to with powder highlight. i might even try mixing this in with my foundation.

The BrowGal Eyebrow Gel: This is pretty average eyebrow gel that I used after I had already filled in my brows. I’m looking forward to trying this out on a no-makeup makeup day!

Adesse Hi Definition Liquid Lipstick: I was thinking this would be more of a matte finish, but it definitely isn’t. It’s comparable to ColourPop ultra satin lips, maybe with even more gloss. I love the color I got!

ColourPop My Little Pony Eyeshadow Palette: This is too cute! Not only do I love the packaging of this, but I love the eyeshadow product inside! I’ve only used ColourPop single shadows, but the ones in the palette seemed high quality as well!

February BoxyCharm Try-On

I’m changing it up a bit over on my YouTube channel. Instead of just showing the products I got in my Boxycharm box this month, I’m also trying them out for the first time!

Three Crown Brushes for the Face: This is now the third month in a row we have gotten a product from Crown cosmetics. Interesting… Anyway, I do like these brushes – they are soft and seem to stand up well during washes. I especially liked the biggest of the three, which I used to contour my face with in my video.

Naked Cosmetics Holographic Highlighter Collection: If you are into crazy highlighting shades, then this is your palette. Usually, these colors of highlight are not my cup of tea (green highlighter anyone?) but I did enjoy the top row of highlighters in this palette. I guess it’s a good way to get me out of my highlighting comfort zone!

Cover FX Shimmer Veil in Amethyst: My favorite product in the box this month! This is a liquid eyeshadow similar to the Stila Magnificent Metals or ColorPop Supernova Shadows. This is color is a gorgeous light pink with purple reflects. Ah love!

Bellapiere Cosmetic Glitter in Cosmic Purple: I didn’t actually  try this product out for a few different reasons. 1) I already had a glittery eyeshadow on my lids. 2) I don’t actually own any glitter glue and that is definitely needed for this product. So, I’m not sure about this product. Seems impractical since we didn’t get any glitter glue with it.

Vintage Cosmetics Smokey Eye Pencil: I was shocked at how smooth this eyeliner is – especially for a pencil! This might be my new go-to water line pencil!

Makeup Revolution Review

When I saw the Makeup Revolution display in Ulta, I thought it was a joke. Seriously, every one of their products looks like a dupe of a popular high-end product. Of course I had to try some out, especially if they really were good dupes!

Makeup Revolution products range from $2-$18 and they are cruelty free. They had a display about the same size as Physician’s Formula in Ulta. I picked up an eye shadow palette, a contour palette, a blush palette, and a lip pencil/liquid lip combination. I’ve tried all of these products a few times.

Going in order of how I put these products on my face, I’m going to start with the Pro HD Powder Contour Palette. Depending on your skin shade and tone this has 4 contours and 4 highlights. So far, I have used the banana shade in the right corner to set my under eyes, the second contour from the left, and the white shade as a highlight on my cheekbones. This palette is $18, so this is one of the more expensive products from Makeup Revolution.

I’ve been enjoying the banana shade for under my eyes. It sets my concealer nicely, but it doesn’t add much brightness. I like the contour shade I use, but I think it is a bit light for me. The darker shade is too dark. The highlight adds a subtle sheen. Overall, I think this is a good beginner’s contour palette and it is especially good for those with very fair skin. They also sell a palette known as “light medium” for darker skin tones.

This blush palette was the product that originally drew me to the Makeup Revolution display. I loved the 8 pink, swirly blush shades. This is the Blush Queen Blush Palette and it retails for $10.

Unfortunately, this is my least favorite of all the Makeup Revolution products that I bought. Once you swirl a brush around in a pan, or use your finger for a swatch, the swirl decoration comes right off the top. You are left with a very shiny version of the color underneath. Not only are these all shimmery blushes, but they are also very similar in color to each other. So much so that I can’t tell the difference between them when I put them on my cheeks. I would not repurchase this palette and am interested if all of their blushes in the other palettes are as shimmery.

This is an eye shadow palette called the Golden Bar Palette. If you own anything from Too Faced I’m sure you can see where the inspiration came for this product and packaging. This palette has 16 shades and they are all shimmery or satin finishes. This palette is $15.

I actually really love this palette! I was worried because all of the shades look too shimmery to be able to do a whole eye makeup look with it, but I have found that once you get the top layer off, some of the brown shades are matte enough to be used in the crease. It may look like a lot of gold shimmery shades, but can you ever really have enough gold eye shadow?! I didn’t think so either. I would definitely recommend this product, especially someone looking for a good eye shadow palette on a budget.

This lip pencil and liquid lip come together as a lip kit, and the box they come in looks suspiciously like a certain celebrity’s brand of lip kits. This is the Reto Luxe Matte Lip Kit in Reign and it is $9.

I really like this product, except that the lip pencil doesn’t turn up. All the product you see at the tip there is what you get. It’s very creamy and will not last nearly as long as the liquid lip. The liquid lip is a comfortable matte formula. It stays on well all day, but it is transferable. It reminds me of the NYX Liquid Suede Lipsticks in formula. The color that I got is a nice neutral pink.

After using all the products that I bought, I am very excited to go out and try lots more of their products. As you can tell from my review, some of the “dupe” products are not worth it, but I do think the formulas are good for a drugstore brand. Let me know if you have tried any makeup Revolution products!

BareMinerals BarePRO Liquid Foundation Review and Demo

BareMinerals is known for their powder mineral makeup. I’m not really into powder foundation, so I have never tried their foundation. When I saw that BareMinerals made a liquid foundation, I was interested and bought it right away!

IMG_1439.JPG

I bought mine on Ulta‘s website, but it is also available on Sephora. It retails for $34 for 1 fluid ounce. Each retailer sells 30 different shades. This is the largest foundation that I currently own!

This foundation is supposed to be a lightweight, full coverage foundation with a matte finish. I’ve been trying this product out for a few days and I am ready to give my review!

I bought mine in the shade Aspen 04. Honestly, this color is too light for me right now, but I am very tan from vacation. I make it work with a little bit of bronzer. The bottle is heavy and luxurious feeling and the best part is that it has a pump! Yay!

IMG_1435

I usually use two pumps on the back of my hand, and that is enough for my entire face. In my YouTube video (linked at the bottom) I tried applying it on half of my face with a brush and half of my face with a beauty sponge. I liked using the beauty sponge so much better than the brush!

When it pumps out, it is a very liquid consistency. You can see it starting to drip on the back of my hand. However, I think that makes it easier to blend on the face.

I really love this foundation so far! The only downside is that it is definitely not full coverage like it says it is. I could have layered more on, but I’ve been loving the more-sheer look for the summer. It is a matte finish like it says. This bottle will also last you FOREVER – it is so big and you don’t need a lot of product. I am excited to see if this improves the quality of my skin over time, as bareMinerals products claim to do that.

Overall, I suggest checking this out! I’ve been loving it and I think you will too!
