Evening Skin Care Routine

Are you nosy about everyone else’s skin care routines like I am? I love watching these types of videos and the last time I posted one like this was when I first started my channel years ago (find that video here)! Obviously, my routine has changed since then – I care about different things for my skin and I use different products. Here’s what I’ve been doing!

Lately, I’ve been taking off my makeup using only water and a Norwex face cloth. This removes most of my face makeup and starts to break up my eye makeup. Once that’s done, I use the Up and Up oil-free acne wash with pink grapefruit to wash my whole face (avoiding my eye area because this stuff burns!).

To clean off my eye makeup I use the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water and a cotton ball. I try to be gentle with the skin around my eyes, but sometimes I just want to finish and get to bed. I’m sure everyone can relate.

On this particular night I used a facemask after I had washed my face -the Farmacy Bright On Massage-activated Vitamin C mask. I got this in a recent BoxyCharm box and I’ve been loving it!

After I’ve washed my facemask off I finish up my routine with some Garnier SkinActive Hydrating 3-in-1 aloe moisturizer and Cerave eye cream!

Please check out my video to see me do my evening routine!

What I Ate Wednesday – August 15, 2018

Breakfast

IMG_1847.JPG

I had a (kinda) light breakfast since I knew I would be going out to lunch. I fried an egg and had some blueberries. Of course, I had my coffee as well!

Lunch

I had lunch at a restaurant with a friend so I didn’t want to take out my camera and take pictures of my food. I didn’t want to be THAT weirdo haha! Anyway, I had boneless wings with teriyaki sauce and tater tots. I know, I know, I’m just so healthy!

Dinner

IMG_1848.JPG

I tried something a little different for dinner tonight and I loved it! It’s tortellini with asparagus, home-grown tomatoes, and pesto. Next time, I think I would keep the foods separate (I cooked it all in one pan) but overall, it was delicious! It was inspired by this recipe, but I changed a lot of it!

What did you eat this week?

August BoxyCharm

It feels like I just posted a BoxyCharm video (which I did, you can find it here) so I decided to just do a blog post for it this month, instead of a video and a blog post.

How Boxycharm Works:

Boxycharm is $21 per month. This price includes all the products, as well as shipping charges. Inside your box you get 4 or 5 full size products and a paper describing what each product it and how much it would usually cost. All boxes are worth AT LEAST $100. Mine was definitely over that this month.

My Box this Month:

IMG_1845.JPGWander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks: I’ve only tried one other brand of eye masks, but oh my gosh I loved these! I would recommend laying down while you wear these so they don’t slip down your face, but my under eyes felt amazing and fresh after I used this. And the box comes with three! I wasn’t thrilled with the last Wander Beauty item we got in our month, but these are awesome!

Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Palette: This is just an everyday casual palette…just kidding! These colors are so bright and fun. I can’t wait to come up with an eye look for this palette. MaybeI’ll do an upcoming tutorial on it if it turns out decent! I love seeing a beauty influencers brand in the box.

House of Lashes: I’m not a huge lash-wearer, but I do have a few big events coming up that I probably will want to wear lashes for! I’ve heard such great reviews on the House of Lashes lashes, so I’m excited to try these out!

Adesse Nail Treatment- Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil: I’ve never used a nail oil before, so this definitely intrigues me. I thought once I put it on my nails that it would dry down, but it stays oily for a long time. Next time I try it, Ill try it while I don’t have to use my hands for anything, like while I’m watching TV. I think I’ll like this and I’m excited to use it more!

Smashbox Lipstick: My understanding is that there were a few different options of lipsticks and shades that went out from Smashbox in this month’s box. I love the bright pink color I received! Hopefully you found something in your box that you liked!

Bang Beauty Chocolate Gel Eyeliner: I’ve been getting back into wearing winged eyeliner everyday so I was excited to see this in the box! Since it’s brown, I think it’s better for everyday wear since it’s much more muted than a black liner. I’m still looking for the perfect brush to use with it, though.

What did you get in your box this month?

Thrift Shop Haul

If you’re anything like me, you love a good deal! I love going thrift shopping (que Macklemore’s song) and finding great treasures. When my family was on vacation recently, we spent a lot of time going to different thrift stores and consignment stores. You never know what you’re going to find!

In this video, I show you all the different clothes and shoes I got. Let me know what you’ve gotten in recent thrift shop hauls!

What I Ate Wednesday – August 8, 2018

Breakfast

I totally forgot to take a picture of my breakfast! I documented this on a Monday that my boyfriend had decided to go into work late so I wasn’t thinking and forgot! Anyway, I had cottage cheese, a banana, and a coffee. I’m sure you know what all of those things look like anyway!

Lunch

IMG_1838.JPG

Not sure why this came out so blurry…I had a salad with HOME-GROWN tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and white balsamic dressing. This might look like a lot of dressing, but I mixed it in. I also had a spinach wrap with tuna and corn inside. This has been one of my quick and easy go-to lunches lately!

Snack

IMG_1841.JPG

I went grocery shopping before my afternoon snack and I picked up a graze box (find them here) – the not too spicy veggie protein. I love this box specifically because it’s crunchy and salty like chips, but I feel like it’s healthy and fills me up. I also had celery with cream cheese – a childhood staple and still a great snack!

Dinner

IMG_1842.JPG

I was by myself for dinner so I decided to make one of my favorite dinners – pasta with pesto sauce. I also mix in a little olive oil with the sauce (which I just buy in a jar usually). It’s so good and I usually eat way too much of it!

Well, that’s it for today! I might have snack of ice cream soon and I’ll definitely have a cup of green tea tonight since I’ve been loving that for the past few days. What did you eat today?

July Books

Wow, I read a lot this month! My family and I were on vacation in Florida for almost 2 weeks and they have an AMAZING library there. Of course, we took full advantage of it and took out lots of books and movies, some of which were even read or watched! Here’s what I read last month (in the order that I read them).

IMG_1832.JPG

Beach House for Rent by Mary Alice Monroe

I picked this book up from a “summer reads” section at my library. I actually had a little trouble getting through this book because it was so summery and cheesy. However, I persisted, but it was my least favorite book I read this month.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Need I say more? I re-read these every summer and it’s something that I really look forward to. I know everything about the books, but they are so comfortable for me and remind me of reading them for the first time when I was a kid. Forever my favorites!

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

Why has it taken me so long to get around to reading this!? I honestly had no idea what it was about and it is such an interesting read! It’s definitely one of those books that you can’t put down! I don’t want to give too much away, but it is basically a cast of strong female characters and it involves a murder. Love this!

Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella

Hardly a month goes by that I don’t read a book by Sophie Kinsella, so I’m sure you already know about my love for her. I think is the third (maybe fourth?) book in the “Shopaholic” series. These are just easy, fun reads if you like some good chick-lit.

The Magical Worlds of Harry Potter by David Colbert

In continuance of my obsession with Harry Potter, I read this “not authorized by J.K. Rowling” book. Basically, this book just talks about the backgrounds of various creatures and characters/names that Rowling uses in her books. I thought this book would be a lot more exciting that it actually was, but it was interesting.

Bachelor Nation by Amy Kaufman

I’ve only recently started watching “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” within the past few years, but like everyone else, I am obsessed and appalled by the show. This book is an expose of what really happens on the show, behind the cameras and lights. Basically, there is a lot of alcohol and manipulation. This was definitely an interesting read if you watch the show!

My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf

This is a graphic novel that was recommended to me by my Mom. I really didn’t know much about Dahmer, as it happened either before I was born of when I was a baby. Of course, I’ve heard of him and what he had done, but this book is so interesting as it details his life before. It seems like a cartoon since it is a graphic novel, but in the back of the book are sources from every single event that was talked about in the book. Disturbing, but a great read.

The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer

I’ll admit that I was a pretty big “Twilight” fan back in the day. I also really enjoyed her other book “The Host.” I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t read this book or laugh at it because of the author but I loved this book! It has love, murder, and a brilliant female lead character. I highly recommend giving this book a fair chance!

Peanuts Treasury by Charles M. Schulz

This book is a collection of Peanuts cartoons! I love reading books like this while I’m eating breakfast, because I don’t have to concentrate as hard and I can eat and read at the same time. And the Peanuts cartoons are so heartwarming and familiar to everyone!

Whew, that was quite the list! What did you read this month?

July Boxycharm Try-On

I know this is coming a little late for July, but I was on vacation and didn’t get to open my box of Boxycharm goodies until I got home!

How Boxycharm Works:

Boxycharm is $21 per month. This price includes all the products as well as shipping charges. Inside your box you get 4 or 5 full size products and a paper describing what each product it and how much it would usually cost. All boxes are worth AT LEAST $100. Mine was definitely over that this month.

My Box this Month:

Farmacy Bright On Vitamin C Mask: I still haven’t tried this product out…I know I keep meaning to! I’ve just been taking my makeup off and going right to bed without using a face mask, but hopefully tonight I will finally try this out! Until then, I can’t give you a review except to say that this product is usually expensive!

Chella Tantalizing Taupe Eyebrow Cream: This is the perfect eyebrow product to travel with! Unfortunately, I just got back from my vacation. If you really like to fill in your brows and do it quickly, this is a great product. I’m not sure it’s going to replace my current eyebrow products, but it’s something I’ll keep for the future.

Note Luminous Silk Compact Blusher: I LOVE the shade that came this month – I actually don’t have any other blush like it! It’s a beautiful peach shade and it is pretty pigmented so be careful about that. Awesome product!

Crown Fuego Eyeshadow Palette: We’ve gotten lots of Crown products in past boxes, but I think this is my favorite of their products yet! The colors in this palette are beautiful and the pans are huge! Loving this so far!

Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara: This was my least favorite product in the box. It just didn’t put enough product on my eyelashes and I like a LOT of mascara! However, I did really like it for my lower lashes so I’ll be using it for that!

That’s it for the box this month! Did you love any of the products? Make sure you check out my video trying them on!

What I Ate Wednesday – July 11, 2018

After my meal plan post (find that here) I decided to start mixing in some more “What I Ate Wednesdays” so you can see if I really am following along and keeping up on my meal planning! Here’s what I ate one day this week.

Breakfast

IMG_1786.JPG

For breakfast I always have to have coffee – the darker the better, but I do add almond milk and sugar. I’ve also been trying to get better at drinking lots of water so I always fill up a water bottle as soon as I get up in the morning. On this day I also had a little cup of cinnamon applesauce as well as a NutriGrain Cinnamon Crumb Cake, which I’ve been loving for breakfast on the go!

Lunch

IMG_1789.JPG

For lunch I had leftover Cheesy pasta bake (recipe here) that I sprinkled with fresh Italian parsley. I also had more water and I found half a can of Coke in the fridge (yes it was very flat) that I finished up.

Snack

IMG_1790.JPG

For an afternoon snack, I try to either have a fruit or vegetable. Today I had carrots dipped in ranch dressing. Easy and delicious!

Dinner

Okay guys, I am so mad at myself because my boyfriend made the most delicious dinner, but I was so hungry that I didn’t even think about taking a picture until I was cleaning up dinner. I’ll try to describe what we had, but just know it’s amazing and a weekly staple for us. We had breaded chicken (coated in egg and then bread crumbs with salt and pepper) with green beans, and I also had plain noodles with butter, because a meal without pasta just seems silly to me! This is one of our favorite meals and it’s pretty cheap and easy to make as well! Hopefully sometime I’ll remember to take a picture of it!

What have you been eating this week?

Pupdate ~ Mila

The last time I gave you an update on my doggie Mila was December of last year! Boy have we missed a lot!

Mila’s birthday was predicted to be in March. We aren’t totally sure because we got her for free and she didn’t come with any papers. So she is now 1 year and 4 months old. I don’t know if you can consider that to even be a puppy anymore! Of course, in our hearts she’ll always be our puppy/baby.

IMG_1797.JPG

Mila is still the same crazy pup you know and love. She is at her highest energy right when we get home or when ever anyone comes to visit. She seems to be super smart, but one time I went to the bathroom and came out acting like I hadn’t seen her all day and she got just as excited as if I had been gone all day. Other than those times, she is pretty low-maintenance and calm. She gets herself in “moods” sometimes and will try to tear apart her bed or throw some toys around the room.

Now that I am home all day with her, I’ve noticed that she pretty much just lays around being lazy all day. We go for a few walks a day, but otherwise she just finds a spot in the same room as me and curls up. She loves laying on the bed and watching everything out the window. However, if she sees a dog outside, she will go nuts. She has ripped sheets with her nails because she gets herself so worked up when she sees a dog.

Speaking of ripping sheets, we still have not been successful at cutting her nails. Everyone has tried, but no one can do it. We took her to PetsMart and they couldn’t do it because she was flailing around too much. I took her to the vet and even two techs could only cut 3 nails. We’ve mostly given up because her nails stay relatively short since we take walks on pavement.

IMG_1818.JPG

Mila is still eating one cup of I and Love and You dog food twice a day (find it here). We’ve tried different flavors, but they seem to upset her stomach so we have been sticking with the Red Meat Medley lately.

Basically, we’re still very much in love with our Mila and she is the perfect dog for us right now!
