What I Ate Wednesday – January 31, 2018

Back again with a WIAW!

Breakfast

IMG_2880.JPG

I’ve been waking up SO hungry this week! I definitely could not skip breakfast! I had two fried eggs and a piece of toast with butter. Obviously I also had a coffee.

Lunch

IMG_2881.JPG

I brought my lunch to work today. I packed leftover spaghetti and turkey meatballs. Last week I posted a link to a water bottle that was not the one I had (oops) so you can find my water bottle here.

Snacks

IMG_2883

Yes I had two snacks today. i had some goldfish and water at work while my students were eating their snack. I also found my new favorite snack at home – camembert cheese on bread and a pickle. You can call me weird but it is delicious.

Dinner

I was so hungry tonight I completely forgot to take a picture of my dinner. I’ll be honest, though, and admit that we ordered pizza!

What did you eat this week?

January Books

Last month’s books came out late in the month, so I’m making up for that by posting my January books early!

IMG_1656.JPG

I only read two full books this month, so I’m pretty disappointed in myself. I started a new book, but I couldn’t get into it and gave it up to start a new book. I didn’t include that one because I haven’t finished it yet.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

The theme of Buzzfeed’s book club for January was “books that you can read in one sitting.” Although I didn’t actually read this book in one sitting, it was relatively short. I’ve read Neil Gaiman before and his books tend to be on the strange side. This book was no exception. I wasn’t really sure where the book was going. Is it real or in the kid’s imagination? Who knows! That being said, I did enjoy this book! It definitely makes me want to read more of his books!

Turtles all the Way Down by John Green

I’ve read most of Green’s books and I know people love them, but they just seem almost too cheesy for me. There I said it. This book was ehh at best. I really liked the way mental illness was portrayed, as I think not many books can do that accurately and appropriately. However, I just thought the book was boring.

Overall, not a great start to my year of reading, but I’m enjoying the book I’m currently reading and I hope I’ll be reading lots more in February! What did you read this month?

January BoxyCharm

This month was my FAVORITE box I’ve gotten so far! You know, out of the two I’ve gotten!

How Boxycharm Works:

Boxycharm is $21 per month. This price includes all the products as well as shipping charges. Inside your box you get 4 or 5 full size products and a paper describing what each product it and how much it would usually cost. All boxes are worth AT LEAST $100. Mine was definitely over that this month.

My Box This Month:

Dr. Brandt Luminizer Primer: This is such an expensive product normally, so I was so excited to see this in the box. I’ve never bought anything from this brand before, but I’ve heard lots of people rave about it! So far, I love everything about this, except for the somewhat strong scent. However, I love the way my skin looks so I’m willing to look past that. Find it here.

Pur Bronze and Brighten Cheek Palette: I have used this every day since I got this palette. And not just one of the shades – all of the shades! The bronzer is definitely shimmery, which I would prefer more in the summer, but oh well. I LOVE the blush and highlighting shades. Find it here.

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Pencil in Universal Taupe: I haven’t used a brow pencil in quite a while as I prefer brow pomade. However, I love the shape of this pencil. It’s basically long and flat and it’s easy to carve out your brows. Plus, the shade is perfect, at least for me! Find it here.

Crown Glam Metals Eyeshadow Palette: Out of all the products in the box this month, this was the one I was least impressed by. It’s not a bad palette by any means, but there is only one matte shade, making it impossible to do a whole eye look with just this palette. I do like the different shimmery shades it has, though! Find it here.

Girlactik Liquid Lipstick in Posh: This was another product that I’ve heard people rave about but never had myself. Well, they were right! This is a beautiful darker nude shade that is so comfortable on the lips you don’t even know it’s there. I’m so glad I got this! Find it here.

You can get boxycharm here!

What I Ate Wednesday – January 25, 2018

Sorry this post is going up a day late – I actually took these pictures on a Wednesday and fell asleep before I could get the post up! Anyway, here it goes!

Breakfast

IMG_2863

I just could not get out of bed this morning so I didn’t have time for breakfast. Of course, I needed that coffee though, as I was rushing around getting ready! I know it’s not healthy to not eat breakfast, but time was limited!

Lunch

IMG_2862

I packed my lunch for work today. I had leftover pasta with pesto sauce. You know that’s my favorite! I also had pretzel sticks. I’m pretty good about drinking water during the day if I drink it with a slice of lemon and lime. This water bottle is the best because it keeps my water bottle cold all day! You can find it here.

Dinner

IMG_2864

Hey I actually cooked tonight! I made salmon and asparagus in the toaster oven with olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. I also had leftover mashed potatoes. This was a delicious dinner!

A Day in the Life 1-23-18

This is a post I’ve been meaning to do for a while now, since these are my favorite types of posts to read on other people’s blogs. My life isn’t particularly exciting, but this is what a typical Tuesday looks like for me.

IMG_2851

My alarm goes off at 6:00 am and I am never ready for it. I usually snooze it once or twice if I’m being honest. They I take Mila out and give her breakfast. I make myself coffee and drink it while I’m getting ready for work.

I leave for work around 7:20 and get there at 7:45. I’m a kindergarten teacher so my days are filled with runny noses, crafts, and endless stories. Today we were working on the letter O so we did an octopus craft. I love how they turned out!

IMG_2852.JPG

IMG_2854.JPG

I had an alarm set on my phone to remind me to take pictures for this blog post, but of course I still forgot! After work I went to the post office and then to Wegmans because we are on our last roll of toilet paper and that’s a situation no one wants to find themselves in! I totally forgot to take pictures of my errands, but just picture me buying toilet paper.

I got home around 4:30 and took Mila on a nice long walk around the apartment complex. I was feeling pretty tired so I made myself a cup of coffee and had a snack of pretzels and cheese. I just like to chill and watch YouTube videos while I eat my snack.

IMG_2856.JPG

At this point I really meant to go to the gym, but I was still waiting for the caffeine to kick in. So I sat on the couch and did some work for Usborne Books. I have a few online parties coming up that I’m getting ready for.

IMG_2857.JPG

Around 5:30 ish I finally got myself up and went to the gym! Our apartment complex has a little gym similar to a hotel gym so I’ve been trying to go there lately. I’ve actually gone the past three days! Here’s a very flattering picture of me at the gym.

IMG_2858.JPG

I was STARVING when I got back from the gym and there was leftover rice in the fridge. I also made some chicken dumplings. Since my boyfriend is on a business trip this week I’m all alone so I just watched more YouTube while I was eating my dinner.

IMG_2859.JPG

After dinner I facetimed with my boyfriend and cuddled with Mila. I’m currently sitting right now at the end of this day writing this post. I’ll most likely just shower, take Mila for another long walk, and then read in bed. My feet are so tired today so I’m really looking forward to that!

Let me know if you like these kinds of posts – I had a lot of fun writing this one and I’d love to do more! Have a great day/night!

What I Ate Wednesday- January 17, 2018

Here’s what I ate this week on a day that I didn’t have work (and still didn’t eat perfectly healthy)!

Breakfast

IMG_1642.JPG

I actually went to the gym this morning, yay! When I got back I was super hungry and thirsty so I had scrambled eggs with a little Mexican cheese sprinkled on top, as well as a coffee and water with lemon and lime. I’ve been finding that if I put lemon and lime in my water I like it better and I’m more likely to drink a lot!

Lunch

IMG_1649.JPG

This looks like a big lunch (and it was) but it was just leftovers from dinner a few nights ago. We had bought a rotisserie barbecue chicken, so there was a little bit left of that, although I would have preferred a flavor other than barbecue. I also had leftover mashed potatoes and green beans. As you can see, I love to put lots of pepper on my food! I drank another glass of water.

Snack

IMG_1650.JPG

I was hungry between lunch and dinner so I had a little snack. I made some tea with caffeine in it to keep me alert and I had spreadable cheese that I recently bought from a local vendor (It’s almost like cream cheese mixed with hot sauce, but much more appetizing than that sounds). I like to spread the cheese on Club crackers.

Dinner

IMG_1651.JPG

For dinner our friend came over to hangout so we just ordered pizza and garlic sticks from Pizza Hut. I usually just get the cheese pizza from there. Pizza Hut is definitely my favorite fast food pizza place!

And that’s it! I wasn’t very hungry after dinner so I didn’t end up having a snack later that night. What did you eat this week?!

December Books

Here we are, halfway through January, and I am finally writing about the books I read in December! I actually do have a good excuse for my lateness, though, I had to re-order one of them from the library and wait for it to come back in, so there!

IMG_1640.JPG

The first book that I read in December was Can You Keep a Secret by one of my all-time favorite authors Sophie Kinsella. She writes light, easy to read books that usually focus on a female character in her 20s. Being a female in my 20s, this appeals to me quite a bit! Honestly, I read this so long ago that I can hardly remember what it was about, except that it was about a girl who “accidentally” told all her secrets to her boss. Of course at the time, she didn’t know he was her boss. Then they end up dating and he doesn’t like to tell secrets so she is mad that he already knows all of hers. It’s just a fun, silly read!

The second book was I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. My mom recommended this book to me because it’s by the same author who wrote 101 Dalmatians. I liked this book, but it took me a while to get into it because there’s very little excitement or drama. It was the type of book that you want to read curled up by the fire drinking tea on a winter night. A very peaceful book.

The last book was my favorite of the month. It was My Life in France by Julia Child. I’ve had this book for a while and just randomly picked it up to read. She has such a fun personality in the book and she writes with so much detail, I was amazed she could remember so much about her early life! All the food she mentions sounds delicious, and I definitely ate too much while I was reading this book!

I love going back and looking at the previous posts I’ve done about the books I read. It’s a good way to keep track of how much I am reading! What did you read during the month of December?

Help Wanted – Foundation, Concealer, and Powder Needed

Since filming my “Best of 2017” video, I’ve realized that I am running out of foundation, concealer, and powder. The three things I use every day and I need more immediately! Of course I could watch favorites and recommendations videos or just buy something and hope for the best, but I wanted to know what the people reading my blog would recommend!

I’m not picky about the brand of the items, but I would prefer if they were drugstore. They don’t have to all three be from the same brand or even the same store! I’m just looking for your favorite, high-quality foundation, concealer, and powder.

So what would you recommend? What are your favorites?

Shrimp and Pasta Recipe

Hey guys! Looking for an easy, delicious, weeknight meal? Well here it is! I love this shrimp and pasta and I find it filling as well. It’s very simple and only needs a few ingredients. I will note though that I totally made up this recipe so the ingredients amounts is not as exact as I’d like it to be. Maybe some day!

IMG_1639

You will need:

  • One box of pasta
  • Frozen shrimp (the number depends on how many you want in each serving)
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic (I use pre-cut from a jar)
  • Oregano
  • Parsley
  • Salt
  • Pepper

If your shrimp is frozen (this is ideal because frozen shrimp is way easier and cheaper than fresh shrimp from the fish counter), start by thawing it so it is ready to go into the sauce.

Start the pasta in boiling water. I combined shapes of pasta for this recipe just because I had a little bit left in one box and a little bit left in another box. Just check that you coordinate the times.

IMG_1633.JPG

Once the pasta has about 5 minutes remaining start the sauce in a frying pan. Coat the bottom of the pan with olive oil, add oregano, garlic, and parsley to taste, and put in the shrimp.

IMG_1638.JPG

Once the shrimp are cooked (don’t let the garlic get too browned) the sauce is ready to go on the pasta once it is done and strained. Easy peasy! I like to add salt and pepper once the sauce is already done and on the pasta.

Let me know if you try this recipe out and if you enjoyed it!
