Recently with all this coronavirus business, many people are working from home or have stopped work completely. I’m stuck at home without a job currently because I’m a teacher and our school is closed. It can be easy to just wallow in bed all day, but I know that if I want to feel good, and not be as shocked when I’m back at work, I need to keep productive. There are lots of posts on what to do with kids who are home, but us adults want to have fun too! If you’re looking for something fun to do with a partner at home, check out my post of date ideas for home. I’m at home by myself all day, so I’m looking for new ways to have fun as well. Here are some fun ideas for adults stuck at home.

Keep a Schedule While Stuck At Home

I know it seems silly to keep to a rigid schedule when you are home and have off from work, but I find that I get the necessary things done, and I still have time for things I enjoy. I’ve literally made myself a schedule for every day. I also have a list of things I need to get done (cleaning, laundry, etc.) that I will block out time for. You can find lots of printables and ideas for schedules on my Pinterest Board “Productivity and Organization.“
Learn Something New

Now for the fun stuff! Of course, you can spend your time spring cleaning or something like that (and you should), but you also have some fun planned for yourself! Many Ivy League colleges offer free online classes. Some examples include engineering, health and science, and robotics. If there is something you are interested in learning more about check out freecodecamp.org for a list of the classes that are available!
If you plan on having an extended break, you may want to start learning (or freshen up on) another language. Try sites like Duolingo, Rosetta Stone, or Babbel to get started. This may seem daunting, but if it’s something you’ve been wanting to do for a while, now is a great time!
Read

Do you have a huge pile of books that you’ve been “meaning to read” for a while? It’s your chance to actually read them! I know a lot of public libraries have closed down to stop the spread of germs, but all their eBooks and audiobooks are still available. Your public library will have a website where you can check out audiobooks and download them to a Kindle, or other device. Additionally, the New York Public Library has so many things that you can do on their website. Definitely check it out!
Go Outside/Workout

Here’s a post I wrote a little while ago about my current workout routine, which I am still following while I’m home. There are tons of free workouts that you can follow on YouTube without ever leaving your house. However, it is March, and it’s starting to warm up and look a bit like spring. Get outside and take a walk! Take your dog to the dog park! Go for a bike ride! Go for a run! The possibilities are endless outside, and you (and your pet) will enjoy spending this time together.
Get Crafty

Even if you don’t consider yourself “artistic,” you can still find fun, easy crafts to do at home! If you search “paint and sip” on YouTube, you’ll find lots of tutorials. These are similar to the classic “Paint and Sip” parties held at local bars and other places. This would be so fun to do on a Saturday night in your PJs with your favorite wine. Check out the California Wine Club for great deals on wine subscriptions. You might even be able to convince your partner to do it with you!
Take this time to learn how to knit or crochet. I have been working on a scarf for over a year now, and I think I might actually finish it during this time at home! Again, there are lots of YouTube tutorials that will help you learn. Also many bloggers do this as well, and it would be an awesome way to support them!

Additionally, there are lots of other crafty-type things you can do during this home time. Find something that you love and share it with us in the comments! What are you doing during self-isolation? Do you have any fun ideas for adults stuck at home? Share with us so none of us will be bored!
Great types! I like how you covered the adult side of being indoors.
Yes we adults get bored at home too!
Very nice blog and some surprising ideas, Camille! ^_^ Thank you for sharing. I wrote a similar blog on the same topic and it is funny to see which of our ideas overlap and where we differ. I’ll bookmark your site to come back, soon! 🙂
Great minds think alike!
