Makeup Collection and Storage

I don’t have a ton of makeup, but I thought I would share how I store the products that I have. I also posted a video on YouTube that goes more into depth about the specific products that I have. I love watching videos and reading posts about this – probably because I’m so nosy!

This is the desk where I do my makeup every day, so I keep my most-used products here. I have a small mirror that flips over to a more magnified mirror. This small shelf was a gift from my boyfriend and is super convenient to store small products and brushes that I use all the time.

Next to my desk, I have a bookshelf that holds the rest of my makeup. On the top I have a case where I store all my lip products. I also have a few drawers where I keep individual eye shadows. On the top shelf is primers, foundations, powders, bronzers, blushes, and highlighters. On the middle shelf I keep eye shadow palettes (large ones and quads) and extra eyeliners and mascaras. On the bottom shelf I have a box of nail polishes and paints and brushes for actual painting.

I try to keep things organized, but as you can see, some areas could do with a little more organization (lip products)! Make sure you check out my video to see me describe the products in detail!

E.L.F. Tutorial

Recently, I started my YouTube channel back up again. I’m feeling so creative and I have lots of ideas for new videos! I hope you check out and subscribe to my channel. What I Ate Wednesday – February 22, 2017

For my breakfast, I had organic oatmeal from Wegmans with brown sugar sprinkled on top. I also had a coffee with almond milk and sugar. A simple, easy, and healthy breakfast! I make my oatmeal from the instant packets and I just add boiling water.

Not my healthiest lunch, but I was really in the mood for mac and cheese. I get the spirals from Wegmans and I add the cheese packet, butter, and almond milk. I make everything with almond milk since it lasts longer than regular milk and I can’t tell the difference in taste. I add lots of pepper on top of my mac and cheese. For my drink, I had Honest Kids Lemonade. Yes, this is a children’s drink, and yes it’s delicious

For a little pre-dinner snack, I had celery sticks with cream cheese on them. I get the celery sticks that are pre-cut simply because I am lazy. I also had some earl grey tea.

I came up with dinner at the last minute and I think I did a pretty good job! I had some salmon frozen that I thawed and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. I made some brown rice and asparagus seasoned with olive oil, salt, and pepper. I made the asparagus in the oven and the salmon in the toaster oven.

Favorite Books

I’m a huge reader and I always have been. As a result, I’m always looking for suggestions from other readers on books that they enjoyed. So, I’ve decided to share my all-time favorite books in case anyone was looking for suggestions!

In general, I am a fan of teen and young adult books. I find them easy to read and interesting. I do still enjoy “adult” books from time to time though as well. I also love getting hooked on series or a particular author.

This list does not include children’s books (as a teacher I also love these) so let me know if you would like a separate post just on my favorite children’s books!

The books listed below are in no particular order – I love them all! I tried to list as many as I could think of since most of them are pretty popular.

What I Ate Wednesday – February 15, 2017

I started off my day with a very small breakfast of a chocolate chip granola bar. Fun fact – a student of mine gave this to me as a random present a few weeks ago, so cute! Our school has lunch at 10:40 am (brunch?) so I usually have a small breakfast or else I’m not hungry at our lunch time.

For my lunch I had a bit of lemon pepper rotisserie chicken that is sold at Wegmans and mashed potatoes that I made this weekend in the crock pot. They were so easy to make and they turned out really good. I think I’ll be having mashed potatoes more often now! Sorry my picture isn’t very glamorous, but I really do eat my lunch out of a tupperware container on most days.

I usually have a snack and coffee when I get home from work, but since yesterday was Valentine’s day and today was out hundredth day of school celebration, I was exhausted and came right home to take a nap.

Dinner was pasta with pesto sauce and Brussels sprouts baked in the oven with olive oil, salt, and pepper. This meal is a staple for me! Not too hard to make and delicious!

Again, I was feeling very tired at night so I decided to not have a snack and just plop right into bed. Not a very interesting day of eating but I hope you enjoyed it anyway!

10 Winter Essentials

Since I’m in the winter mood (snow day please?) I thought I’d post my top 10 winter essentials. These are things that I use almost every single day during the winter to keep cozy. Enjoy!

  1. A Heated Blanket/Pad – Every night before I go to bed, I turn on my heated blanket on my bed so that when I crawl in it’s already warmed up for me. I hate getting into a cold bed so this is perfect! I also have a heating pad that I use on my lap in the living room.
  2. Candles – Lighting candles in the evening is so relaxing for me. I love the way they look and smell! I’ve found that the best candles for their price can be found at Target.
  3. Mini Heater – I love taking baths in the winter, but my bathroom isn’t heated and I used to freeze in the tub. Now I have a mini heater to use when I take baths to heat up the bathroom. It’s tiny, but definitely heats up the whole bathroom!
  4. Tea – In the winter, I usually drink at least one cup of tea a day. During the day I prefer teas like green tea and earl grey tea. At night, I’ll wind down with a cup of sleepytime peach tea.
  5. Pajamas – I love pajamas. Seriously, I am obsessed. I asked everyone to get me pajamas for Christmas and now I have so many cozy winter pajamas. Sometimes, I even put them on as soon as I get home from work!
  6. Body Butter – My skin gets so dry in the winter. I try to apply body butter or lotion to my entire body after every shower. Bonus if it’s a relaxing scent!
  7. Chapstick – I have a tube of chapstick with me pretty much at all times. At night for an added boost of moisture for my lips I’ll apply vaseline instead of chapstick.
  8. Boots – I have a lot of boots. Short boots, tall boots, boots for snow, boots for rain, boots when I’m feeling lazy. Boots are a staple for my entire winter wardrobe.
  9. Slippers – I wear slippers all the time when I am at home. My feet are super cold all the time and slippers really help! My mom actually knitted the pair I am currently wearing.
  10. House Plants – Looking outside and seeing brown grass and/or snow can be quite the downer during winter. I keep a few house plants just so that I have something green to look at once in a while. Some of them I even keep alive!

Winter Makeup

With Winter in full swing (although we really have not gotten much snow) I thought I’d share the makeup that I wear on a daily basis during the winter. As a teacher, I have to get up pretty early in the morning and get out the door on time. That being said, I will snooze my alarm clock until the very last minute (don’t we all) and I am usually in a rush when it comes to applying makeup. Since this is a problem every single day, I end up wearing the same makeup look every day. It’s very simple and I can do it in about 10 minutes!

The first thing I apply is this Argan oil from Physician’s Formula. It has a little glitter in it and I love the way it moisturizes my face before I apply the rest of my makeup. I will also prime my face with the Makeup For Ever smoothing primer. I have used this for a long time and I have found its the best primer for blurring the pores around my nose.

For foundation I have been loving the e.l.f. oil free spf 15 foundation in porcelain. I use foundation every day, but of course you can always skip this part. This foundation has a pump and a medium coverage. For me, its perfect for every day! I also use the e.l.f. concealer in fair. I like this concealer, but it comes in such a tiny bottle!

To set both my under eye area and my whole face I use the RCMA no color powder. This is still my all-time favorite powder!

Next, I fill in my eyebrows. To me, this should be the easiest quickest step so I use the Anastasia dipbrow pomade in taupe to quickly fill in my eyebrows. Not going to lie, I’m pretty sloppy about filling them in so most days my eyebrows are definitely sisters and not twins!

To finish up my face, I bronze up with Benefit’s hoola bronzer. With my skin being so pale, this color works nicely if I just apply a very light amount. I put on Wet n’ Wild’s blush in mellow wine and I dust their blush in rose champagne over my cheekbones for a subtle highlight. I love Wet n’ Wild’s blushes – so many colors and so affordable!

For mascara (an everyday must for me) I coat my lashes in Benefit Roller Lash. This is the best mascara of ALL TIME! Seriously, favorite mascara ever. Plus, right now I’m using a mini bottle and it’s just too cute.

Last but not least, I apply NYX Liquid Suede cream lipstick in Soft Spoken. This is the perfect lip for every day. It’s not too nude but it’s not too bold for everyday wear. It applies so nicely and lasts a really long time!
