Last month’s books came out late in the month, so I’m making up for that by posting my January books early!
I only read two full books this month, so I’m pretty disappointed in myself. I started a new book, but I couldn’t get into it and gave it up to start a new book. I didn’t include that one because I haven’t finished it yet.
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
The theme of Buzzfeed’s book club for January was “books that you can read in one sitting.” Although I didn’t actually read this book in one sitting, it was relatively short. I’ve read Neil Gaiman before and his books tend to be on the strange side. This book was no exception. I wasn’t really sure where the book was going. Is it real or in the kid’s imagination? Who knows! That being said, I did enjoy this book! It definitely makes me want to read more of his books!
Turtles all the Way Down by John Green
I’ve read most of Green’s books and I know people love them, but they just seem almost too cheesy for me. There I said it. This book was ehh at best. I really liked the way mental illness was portrayed, as I think not many books can do that accurately and appropriately. However, I just thought the book was boring.
Overall, not a great start to my year of reading, but I’m enjoying the book I’m currently reading and I hope I’ll be reading lots more in February! What did you read this month?
