The last time I gave you an update on my doggie Mila was December of last year! Boy have we missed a lot!
Mila’s birthday was predicted to be in March. We aren’t totally sure because we got her for free and she didn’t come with any papers. So she is now 1 year and 4 months old. I don’t know if you can consider that to even be a puppy anymore! Of course, in our hearts she’ll always be our puppy/baby.
Mila is still the same crazy pup you know and love. She is at her highest energy right when we get home or when ever anyone comes to visit. She seems to be super smart, but one time I went to the bathroom and came out acting like I hadn’t seen her all day and she got just as excited as if I had been gone all day. Other than those times, she is pretty low-maintenance and calm. She gets herself in “moods” sometimes and will try to tear apart her bed or throw some toys around the room.
Now that I am home all day with her, I’ve noticed that she pretty much just lays around being lazy all day. We go for a few walks a day, but otherwise she just finds a spot in the same room as me and curls up. She loves laying on the bed and watching everything out the window. However, if she sees a dog outside, she will go nuts. She has ripped sheets with her nails because she gets herself so worked up when she sees a dog.
Speaking of ripping sheets, we still have not been successful at cutting her nails. Everyone has tried, but no one can do it. We took her to PetsMart and they couldn’t do it because she was flailing around too much. I took her to the vet and even two techs could only cut 3 nails. We’ve mostly given up because her nails stay relatively short since we take walks on pavement.
Mila is still eating one cup of I and Love and You dog food twice a day (find it here). We’ve tried different flavors, but they seem to upset her stomach so we have been sticking with the Red Meat Medley lately.
Basically, we’re still very much in love with our Mila and she is the perfect dog for us right now!
It’s been almost two months since I have updated this blog about my wonderful puppy Mila! She is around 8 months old now and is only slightly bigger than when you last saw her.
She is spayed now and completely healed from her surgery. I have to admit though, it was pretty funny when she had to wear the cone! For a few weeks after her surgery, she was getting up in the middle of the night to go outside. She also went through a week where she was up at 4:00 am to go out and I couldn’t get back to sleep after that. For the most part, the earliest she wakes up to go out is 6:00 and sometimes she will sleep until 7:30 on the weekends!
She eats the same amount of food (1 cup twice a day, you can find the food here). We have noticed that she has filled out some from when we first got her, but she runs around too much to be chunky!
Speaking of running around, she has figured out that I’m the “mom” and she comes to me when she’s tired or when she’s feeling gentle. She never bites me when I play with her. My boyfriend is definitely the playmate. They wrestle and she gets a little more rough with him than she does with me. Sometimes they can really get each other going and she gets super hyper.
She still can do “sit” and “shake” and now she consistently responds to “crate” by going right into her crate (even if she’s not happy about it). Every day when I leave for work she still whines but it’s quieter than it used to be. I turn on an old radio that plays all day for her so she can at least hear voices. She also gets walked every day by our dog walker. She loves Mila so much and spends a lot of time with her and is always sending pictures. She is still so excited to see me when I get home!
Basically, she is the perfect puppy! I hope to be doing more pupdates on her and I will definitely show her when she is a year old!
Guess what? We got a puppy! Her name is Mila and she is around 6 months old. She is a mix between a black lab and a chow, although we mostly see the black lab in her.
We got her 7 weeks ago from a woman on Facebook who was giving her away. Actually, we got her on the first day of school, so that was very stressful for me – new kindergarteners and a new puppy all on the same day!
We started working on training her right away, since she was so young. her previous owners must have worked a little bit with her because she was house-trained fairly easily. She has also mastered sit and shake and goes right in her crate when it’s mealtime.
Speaking of mealtime she eats a cup of food twice a day (with lots of treats in between). We have been giving her the “I and love and you” dog food which you can find here. We like switching up the flavors when we buy a new bag, but she seems to love it all.
Thankfully, Mila has always slept through the night while she’s been with us. She enjoys sleeping at the end of the bed and occasionally she will be a little cuddly.
I also filmed a video for my YouTube channel so make sure you check that out! It includes a little more information on her including a vet update. I hope to be doing more updates on her as she grows!
