A Beginner’s Guide to Blogging

I’ve had this blog for over a year (although I wish I was more active) and while I am by no means a professional blogger, I have picked up some tips and tricks along the way. This is a different post than what I normally do, let me know if you like this sort of thing!

This is a guide for someone who already has a blog (self-hosted or not) and is looking for ways to blog more or become more organized with their blogposts. I consider blogging to be a hobby of mine, it’s definitely not a job for me. However, I really do enjoy blogging just for fun!

If you’re like me and you like blogging as a fun hobby, then you probably are somewhat irregular with blog posts and/or your blog might be lacking a little jazz. I get in “moods” where I love blogging and making YouTube videos and then I might disappear for a few weeks. But that’s okay – I’m not really trying to make any money from this! You also might have posted a blog post or two that wasn’t “professional” looking and wished you could have done something better.

I can’t just write a blog post off the top of my head (usually). Even though I still consider myself a blogging beginner, I’ve developed a way to plan my blogposts so that when I do post, I am proud of the content I have created!

I’ve created this (FREE) blogpost planner that I use whenever I am writing a blogpost. It really helps me focus on what I’m trying to accomplish. This might seem like a lot of “work” for a hobby, but I actually enjoy the planning process – and I bet some of you out there do too!

Meet Mila | Puppy Update

Guess what? We got a puppy! Her name is Mila and she is around 6 months old. She is a mix between a black lab and a chow, although we mostly see the black lab in her.

We got her 7 weeks ago from a woman on Facebook who was giving her away. Actually, we got her on the first day of school, so that was very stressful for me – new kindergarteners and a new puppy all on the same day!

We started working on training her right away, since she was so young. her previous owners must have worked a little bit with her because she was house-trained fairly easily. She has also mastered sit and shake and goes right in her crate when it’s mealtime.

Speaking of mealtime she eats a cup of food twice a day (with lots of treats in between). We have been giving her the “I and love and you” dog food which you can find here. We like switching up the flavors when we buy a new bag, but she seems to love it all.

Thankfully, Mila has always slept through the night while she’s been with us. She enjoys sleeping at the end of the bed and occasionally she will be a little cuddly.

I also filmed a video for my YouTube channel so make sure you check that out! It includes a little more information on her including a vet update. I hope to be doing more updates on her as she grows!
