Current Skincare Routine

Let me preface by saying that I am not the type of person who spends an hour on their skincare routine everyday. I don’t have the patience, and frankly I don’t think my skin needs that much upkeep. That being said, I love putting on makeup, so I have to have a good base on which to put my makeup. This is what I have figured out works for my skin and lifestyle!

I have pretty normal skin, not too oily, not too dry. When I wake up in the morning my skin is a bit oily, but nothing that doesn’t come off when I wash it. I get a little oily throughout the day (especially if I’m working or if it is hot) but a little powder clears that up.

This picture shows every single product (face masks excluded) that I use to take care of my skin everyday. It might seem like a lot to some, but to others this could be very minimal. It’s all personal choice!

In the morning I only use two products. I wash my face with the TopCare skin cleanser. As it says on the packaging, it is comparable to the Cetaphil daily cleanser. I have tried that as well and the only differences are the packaging and price. Cetaphil is more expensive and has a pump top. The TopCare cleanser has a pour top. I prefer the pour top for traveling. I just pour about a quarter-sized amount on my hand, rub it into my skin, and rinse with my hands.

Everyone should use an SPF in the morning! If you take nothing else from this post, please just remember that you should be using an SPF moisturizer on your face every morning. Even if you are not out in the sun, it is better to be safe than sorry.  I use the Cerave AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30. It is light and not greasy and is perfect to use before applying makeup.

My nighttime routine is more involved, but still only takes me about 10 minutes. I start by using the PIXI + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse. I take out some of the solid oil first and really work it into my skin. This is also safe to use around your eyes, and I have found it effective at removing most of my eye makeup. Then I rinse off the oil with a washcloth. Most makeup will be removed during this step, so make sure to rinse well. Then I use the cream side as a second cleanse. I work it in and rinse it off just like I do with the solid oil.

If for some reason not all my makeup is removed during these two steps, then I will use the Mario Badescu Eye Makeup Remover around my eyes. This has the same consistency as Vaseline and will remove anything else you might have left behind. I might also use the Simple Micellar Water to remove makeup, but I prefer the Mario Badescu.

Then, I apply toner with a cotton ball. I pour a little amount of the Mario Badescu Aloe Lotion onto it and rub it all over my face and neck. Sometimes a little foundation will still come off on the cotton ball, but that is what this step is good for.

For moisturizer I use the Mario Badescu Seaweed Night Cream. This stuff is green and thick (appealing right)! I love it for a nighttime moisturizer because my skin gets extra hydration throughout the night when I use this.

The last step is using the Cerave Eye Repair Cream underneath my eyes. The skin is very delicate here so make sure not to pull it too hard while you are applying the eye cream.

Like I said, this routine is pretty simple and doesn’t take too long! What is your current skincare routine? I’d love to know in the comments, especially if you have a similar skin type as me! I also made a video on this for my YouTube channel which goes into more detail about each of the products. Make sure you check it out!
