10 Day Wellness Challenge Update

Two weeks ago I wrote a post about a 10 day wellness challenge. You can read all about that and what it entails here. You can find the recipe book that this challenge was based off of on Amazon. Now that I’ve finished the challenge and had a few days to reflect, I thought I would give you my 10 day wellness challenge update.

Quick Review

Without going into too much detail since I’ve already written a whole post on it, I wanted to briefly review what this challenge was. For 10 days, you are to only eat a whole-foods plant-based diet. No meat, dairy, oil, alcohol, or processed foods.

How The Challenge Went

I was able to stick with the challenge for the full 10 days. It did require a little more thought than my normal diet. Mostly this was because I was eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables and I had to go shopping often. I also had to meal plan more strictly. When my friends were ordering take-out I had to bring my own food. At the end of this post I’ve included a free meal planner to use during this challenge, or anytime.

The meat was the easiest thing for me to avoid and I didn’t really miss it. I did miss dairy, but I ended up using soy milk in my coffee and that worked out fine. I didn’t realize how much oil I use until I couldn’t roast any of the vegetables I was eating.

I’ll be honest, as soon as the challenge ended I had a cheese quesadilla with a ton of sour cream and a beer. However, I do think that this challenge was useful for me. I’ve definitely added more fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet, and I’m making a choice to eat less meat.
